Snape returns to Bromsgrove

Former Hereford United midfield John Snape is returning to Bromsgrove to take up the post of player-coach under manager Rod Brown.

Snape had been in a similar position at Stourport Swifts but Brown, who replaced Duane Derby as manager last September, wanted Snape as his assistant.

Currently Snape is suspended so will not be able to play for his new club. He is serving a four match ban for two sending offs in four game for the Swifts.

Snape joined Hereford United on a part-time contract in 1998 from Halesowen Town, and soon earned himself a regular place in the team. He played in almost every game in 1998/99, whether on the left or centre of midfield. He was also a vital first teamer in 1999/2000, captaining the team on several occasions and impressing in the Leicester City matches.

He played for Northfield, Stourbridge and Halesowen before joining United, and is an electrician by trade. A hard tackler with 100% commitment, 'Snapper' will be the first to admit that he doesn't possess the most skill in the world but he has missed just seven league matches in the last three seasons. However, he was released in May 2002 as the club attempted to cut costs and linked up with Worcester City.
