Getting used to being on loan - Collins

Last season Lee Collins joined Hereford United on loan from Wolverhampton. This season the young defender is with Port Vale.

In an interview with the Valiants official website Collins admits he found going out on loan difficult at first.

"Going out on loan is a bit weird and this was especially the case when I joined Hereford last season as this was my first time away from Wolves.

"It took me a while to settle in my new surroundings as I didn't know anyone and I missed my team mates.

"However when I came to Vale in August I found it much easier to fit in as I've got used the process and I have become more self confident.

"As long as you get on with the lads in your new team you can't really go wrong.

"The fans have been great with me since I've been here and are always quick to applaud me when I do something right which is great for my confidence.

"I often see a few of them when I arrive at the ground on match days and they are very complementary and encouraging.

"I was lucky in the fact that I was able to stay in the rented accommodation I had at Wolves whilst on loan at Hereford, due to the clubs being relatively close together.

"Towards the end of my loan period I moved back in with my mum and since I've been at Vale I've now got a place with my girlfriend in Telford."

Collins is a regular member of the Valiants starting line-up.
