The Football Supporters Federation has opened a fighting fund to contest a number of the recent Section 27 orders against football supporters.
In recent months Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, where Police have the ability to force people to leave a certain place or area without any offence being committed, has been used to force 80 Stoke fans to leave Manchester and be escorted back to Stoke, and two groups of Plymouth fans had similar treatment in Doncaster. No offences were committed by either set of fans, with reports also being received by the FSF of other fans also receiving similar treatment.
The FSF have teamed up with civil rights group Liberty to challenge the legality of issuing of Section 27 notices to supporters, and have set up a fund to raise £27,000 to help fund the challenge. More details of the problem, and how to donate, can be read on the FSF website here.
