Former Hereford United coach Phil Robinson is hoping to take up a similar post at Whaddon Road. He has been helping out as first team coach, Bob Bloomer, ruptured an Achilles tendon playing Masters football in June.
Robinson, who recently had a spell in management at Stafford Rangers but quit towards the end of last year, knows manager Keith Downing as they played together at Wolves.
"I think the club are short staffed with the first team and I'd love to extend my stay here," Robinson told this is Gloucester
"I have really enjoyed it and responded to the players and they have responded to me.
"It's great to work with Keith, who is an excellent coach, and the players have made me very welcome and have been very responsive to ideas that I put to them.
"I am thoroughly enjoying not being a manager at the moment, seeing what Keith is going through. I have had five and a half years of that and that puts me in a good position to advise Keith and empathise with him.
"There are a few ups in management and when you get them they are great, but there are a lot of work that people don't see, a lot of hours put in and a lot of lows. Every hour as a manager, you are consumed by the job.
"Hopefully I can take a bit of pressure off Keith with my experience, but I am not missing it at the moment."
