News Round Up

Halifax are still in business at the present time with the only bidders for the club negotiating purchasing the club name and other assets from the Administrator. Both that consortium and the Supporters Trust have approached the FA over forming a new club, but the FA will only accept one of the two proposals. It is understood that the Trust has sent the necessary 'letter of interest' regarding a new club in the Northern Counties East League, while the consortium are aiming higher for the Unibond League.

Leyton Orient have released goalkeeper Stuart Nelson after he 'failed to settle in the area' after signing from... Brentford. The Reading based stopper apparently didn't like the extra 15 miles travelling. Walsall caretaker boss Jimmy Mullen is the front runner for the permanent job. A number of high profile, but inexperienced, candidates have been linked to the post.

The Conference play-off final will be watched by around 40,000 with Exeter reporting 18,000 sales, and Cambridge 17,000. Cambridge have been denied permission for a ticker-tape welcome for their team, after Conference chiefs initially gave the OK, while the Wembley killjoys have also banned flags on poles and any flag larger than 2 metres. Graham Evans is the only ex-Bull in the Wales squad for the summer Four Nations tournament. He is the most experienced man named, with 19 caps and 7 goals.

Accrington boss John Coleman admitted he was forced to change planned team selection following the alleged 'irregular betting patterns' for the Bury game. The players dropped were not named, but the team showed two changes from the one that beat Wrexham the week before. Suspended Chester pair Paul Butler and Tony Dinning are to meet the PFA to resolve their status. Both have 12 months remaining on their contracts but have been frozen out.
