Guy Ipoua was back at Edgar Street yesterday as an invited guest of the sponsors the Tupsley Whites.
Regarded by many as a Hereford United hero, Ipoua scored the second equalising goal in the Conference play-off final at the Walkers Stadium just two years ago.
Before the game he mingled with supporters, took a walk on the pitch and signed autographs and afterwards he was interviewed by Trevor Owens for BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"It was very nice of the fans of Hereford and the people of Hereford to receive me the way they have. It's nice to know they remember me. It was nice of them to give me a clap," said Ipoua.
Looking back at his year at Edgar Street Ipoua said that the manager had asked him to do a job.
"He was desperate to get out of the Conference because he knew what he could do in the Football League and he hasn't been wrong at all.
"We had a good season in the Conference, managed to get in the play-offs and did the job there."
Asked about this season Ipoua remember how there were only six or seven players signed on at the start.
"I think they've done fanastically well
"Mr Turner knows the game inside out and he's proved it again.
"Look at the signings he has made. He knows what he needs and what he wants and what is required."
Ipoua finished by talking about his time at Edgar Street.
"I've fond memories, they'll be nice memories for ever. It's very good to be here."
