Brighton have reported a loss of £2.8million for the season to June 2007, and warned that the Falmer develop must happen 'urgently'.
The club were relegated from the Championship the summer before, reducing revenue by £1.1million, while another £500,000 was spent on the Falmer project. The projected ground has now cost the club £3.6million before even the foundations have been laid, with total losses of over £10million since they beat the Bulls for League status in 1997.
Chairman Dick Knight announced: "The losses have been contained by additional shareholder funding and the Board continues to press forward with the stadium plans.
"The results spell out the urgent need for the new stadium, with all the economic benefits it will bring. Let no-one be in any doubt of our determination to deliver this prized asset for the community."
