Former Hereford United defender Andy Tretton has joined Shrewsbury Town as Sovereign Club Co-ordinator. The role will involve the development of new members for the Sovereign Club, as well as looking after the existing members.
Originally a trainee with his home-town club Derby County, Tretton signed for Shrewsbury in December 1997 and became the a main stay in the Shrews defence.
He had previously had spells with Chesterfield and on-loan at Gresley Rovers. Renowned for his simplicity in defence, he became a firm favourite with supporters at Gay Meadow, but was released in the ITV Digital crisis of 2002.
Tretton, pictured whilst at Edgar Street, then chose Hereford over Telford because of the security of a two-year deal.
In 2002/03, Tretton formed a solid defensive partnership with Tony James which was instrumental in Hereford's success in finishing in sixth place in the Conference.
He played 87 League and Cup games for the Bulls scoring two goals.
He moved to Accrington Stanley in June 2005 after he said he wanted to play in red. He retired last year because of knee problems.
