Up to three late bids have been received for Rotherham prior to the 5pm deadline.
In a short statement, Administrator Jeremy Bleazard said: "I hope to start discussions with a preferred bidder early next week." Former director Dino Macchio is believed to be one of the bidders, having earlier told BBC Radio that he had been in talks with the ground's owners over reducing the rent.
Meanwhile, Chairman Denis Coleman will contest any moves by the FA to bar him from further involvement with any football club. Under their 'fit and proper person' test he would fail having been in charge for two Administration periods. Coleman claims he was not at fault for the first, having only been in charge for a few months when the move was made. The FA have confirmed that no decision on his status has been made.
In other news, Mansfield bidder John Batchelor has been banned from Field Mill. The controversial bidder has been excluded on the grounds that the club cannot guarantee his safety. He has left the ground early during the two previous games he has attended due to threats from supporters.
