Chester have announced profits for the last two seasons at their first AGM for 17 years.
They announced profits of £14,000 and £48,000 for the last two years, but the limited figures offered to the attendees left more questions than were answered. Even owner Stephen Vaughan admitted they were losing £40,000 a month while winning the Conference, leaving supporters wondering how they could turn profit when gates were dramatically down since their promotion.
The accounts showed that the club owed around £2.5million overall, with a near £4million debt being partially negated by the club being owed a staggering £1.5million. At the AGM, club officials refused to answer questions on who was owed - or owing - the money, telling shareholders it was 'none of their business'.
Most of the £4million owed - down by over £2million from the 2006 figure - is believed to be to Vaughan himself, while the location of the money owed - also down by over £2million - is a mystery.
