Shrewsbury are set to offload two players to Macclesfield ahead of Sunday's Edgar Street clash.
Striker Michael Symes and defender Neil Ashton are both expected to join Macclesfield on loan until the end of the season. Symes' departure suggests that the Shrews may have finally found a new striker in the transfer market after being rebuffed in five moves.
Both players have been on the fringes of the first team this season, with Symes a regular starter until Xmas. Speaking to the official Shrewsbury site, manager Gary Peters acknowledged that his striker search would continue: "With the striker situation our strikers would like another striker in. They feel we need an extra one to maybe bring the best out of each other."
Symes' departure leaves only two recognised strikers in Dave Hibbert and Andy Cooke, with defender Kelvin Langmead a former forward.
The Shrews have also offloaded defender Danny Hall to Gretna on a permanent deal. The former Oldham trainee started the last two games, but was not a regular starter.
