Hereford game last in busy schedule for Chester

Chester City manager Bobby Williamson is annoyed that his side has to play four games, including a reserve match, in six days. Next Friday Hereford United travel to Chester for a League Two match.

"We've been asked to fulfil these fixtures and we're prepared to do that, but I don't think it's fair to be asked to play four games in six days," Williamson told the Chester press.

"Why we had to play on Sunday (at home to Shrewsbury) I don't know, and why we have to play on Friday (at home to Hereford) I don't know."

Cheshire Police reportedly made the Shrewsbury game a 12 noon Sunday kick-off, which has left Chester with a busy schedule including last night's Paint game at Carlisle and a reserve game against Wrexham this evening.

"I'd like to think we can do all our games justice, but I don't think we can do that because I don't think we can fire on all cylinders for the league and the Johnstone's Paints Trophy competition, and that's disappointing.

"I enjoyed the game at Carlisle, but I was obviously disappointed in the manner we conceded the goals. I felt they were all defendable, some of our players were at fault and we handed Carlisle their goals on a plate really.

"But credit to Carlisle because they were obviously a better team on the night after winning 4-2, so we wish them all the best in the next round.

"For us it's work as usual until we get the Hereford United home game out of the way on Friday night."

Meanwhile Graham Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester that his side can go to Chester on Friday and give it 'our total concentration'.

However he wasn't sure whether winger Lionel Ainsworth take any part in the game.

"It'll be touch and go; he's not trained yet, so we'll wait and see," said Turner.
