Downing In At Cheltenham

Former Bulls player and coach Keith Downing has been installed as caretaker manager at Cheltenham Town following John Ward's departure for Carlisle.

Downing, now 42, was assistant to Ward at Whaddon Road, and takes control after Ward agreed a four year deal at the Brunton Park club. A 'substantial six-figure' compensation package has been agreed between the clubs for his services.

Downing has already stated his intent to earn the job full time, and has been given funds from the compensation fee to sign two players to help drag the club out of the League One relegation zone.
