Chester Halt Transfer On Wage Concerns

Chester have halted the transfer of former Stockport man Tony Dinning after the club deduced that the signing would push them over the wage capping regulations.

The club announced Dinning's signing last Thursday but he failed to play last Saturday against Morecambe, with most presuming he was not match fit: "The situation is that we're still very, very close to the salary cap and we can't do anything at this moment in time," Manager Bobby Williamson told the Chester Chronicle: "But Tony's here, he's training with us and he's certainly impressed me. He is one we would like to attain but it's all down to finances and the chairman can't do any more than what he's done."

Chester were warned earlier in the season about breaching the cap. The warning resulted in striker Lee Steele being released. They were also subject to investigation last season and, at one point, had only £100 a week breathing room in their budget.

In other news Mansfield have loaned striker Danny Reet to Alfreton, managed by ex-Bull Nicky Law. Reet has been criticised by manager Billy Dearden for being overweight and has managed just three sub appearances. The Stags have also sent Rory Boulding to Hucknall for a month. Chesterfield coach John Knapper has been appointed as no.2 at Conference North side Hucknall.
