Sullivan Slams Armchair Fans

Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan has slammed the armchair fans that stay away from the Blues lower profile matches.

While the club has seen near 25,000 gates for their first two home matches, they have sold only 13,000 season tickets - less than half the amount of the other two newly promoted Premiership sides.

Last season the Blues entertained both Shrewsbury and Wrexham in the Carling Cup getting under 12,500 for the Shrewsbury game and 2,000 less for Wrexham. With a trio of games live on TV on the evening they entertain the Bulls, including Liverpool in the Champions League qualifying, few are expecting a large gate at St Andrews next Tuesday.

Sullivan told the press: "We are competing with many clubs who are bigger in terms of capacity and season ticket holders. The reality is that most of our supporters are armchair fans unless it is a big game and what we have sold is simply not enough. Many Championship clubs get bigger gates than us."

Ticketing details, and prices, for the match are yet to be released with the clubs still negotiating prices.
