Accrington could be thrown out of the league with the local council ready to reject a request to extend temporary planning permission on the Police control room, a requirement of the safety certificate, at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.
The club were granted permission for 12 months last year for the temporary building to enable the side to enter the Football League, but the council are set to reject the request for further time following complaints from local residents that the building overlooks several nearby gardens.
The club have planning permission for a permanent building to house the control room, and funding for the work is at hand from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund, but work has not started - prompting the council to reject an extension to the current arrangement.
A council official told the local press: "When the council granted temporary planning permission at the beginning of the season we acknowledged the club's need to quickly provide the spectator control room.
"But now the club is seeking the retention of the cabin and although the club says it is its intention to replace it in the future, no timescale of that has been put in place. The cabin in its current design results in an unacceptable degree of overlooking and loss of privacy affecting neighbouring residents."
