New laws due to come into force to prevent ticket touts profiting from football matches have been welcomed by the Football League.
The Violent Crime Reduction Act will stop anyone from selling a match ticket above face value, and will also include touts who sell the tickets at face value with extras, such as accomodation, at vastly increased sums.
The Act has been careful not to criminalise the ordinary fan, and anyone is still capable of advertising spare tickets for sale at no more than face value. Football League Solicitor, Nick Craig, said: "These measures will help put an end to the practice of ticket touts selling tickets at inflated prices through the internet. This is good news for supporters and will help ensure that more tickets are available to genuine fans".
