Ricky takes on new job

Ricky George has joined 24dash.com

George, who writes a weekly column for the Daily Telegraph and co-presented 'Matchday with Motty' for BBC Radio Five Live with John Motson, will be sharing his thoughts on the beautiful game in a regular column, which starts today with a look back at Saturday's FA Cup Final between Liverpool and West Ham.

Never one to mince his words, Ricky promises to give readers an off-beat insight into the World Cup, while stimulating debate and controversy.

Ricky said: "I am absolutely delighted to be involved with 24dash. This is an impressive, fresh and exciting website with massive potential."

Ricky George is probably best known for scoring the winning goal for Hereford United in their legendary FA Cup giant killing against Newcastle United in the 1970s.

During his career he made over 400 first team appearances for clubs including Watford, Bournemouth, Oxford United, Barnet and Hereford United.

When his playing days were over Ricky built up a sizeable retail business but maintained close sporting connections and was a joint owner of the racehorse Earth Summit, which won the Grand National in 1998.

More about Ricky's colourful past can be read in his autobiography 'One goal, One Horse', but for his present day thoughts and opinions, read Ricky's column on 24dash.com on the following link: http://www.24dash.com/columnists/39/30/column.htm
