Stevenage Borough have reported a £9,410 loss in the financial year to 31st May 2005, after a £110,791 loss the previous season.
Chairman Phil Wallace is quoted on the Official Stevenage site as saying ''The improved result this year is largely due to the increased revenue from the play offs but our off-field income is still rising year on year. After 5 years of investment and diversification, gate income now accounts for less than 25% of our £2+ million annual income with commercial activities, daily conferencing, banqueting and the new Academy all making a strong contribution to our income stream."
"As an overall business we're in good shape, choosing to invest all of our disposable income into the playing budget rather than declaring taxable profits and dividends. When success on the field eventually brings higher crowds through the turnstiles, the club will be well placed to finance a climb through the football pyramid."
