Stanley hopes to impress Fairclough
Craig Stanley, the Hereford United midfielder, will try to impress Paul Fairclough, the English National Game manager, this afternoon at Edgar Street after being left out of the final 16 picked for the international in Italy next Wednesday.
Both Stanley and Rob Purdie were chosen for the initial 30 strong squad, but Stanley missed out when the final selection was made.
Fairclough, who also doubles as the Barnet manager, has included two of his own squad, King and Yakabu, in the team.
It is not known whether Fairclough has seen Stanley in action this season. The selection of the players for this squad appears to be by recommendation more than being watched by the manager.
However Fairclough will be able to see how fit Rob Purdie is at present this afternoon, assuming he plays and, as there are often late withdrawals from the squad, he will get the chance to personally cast his eye over Stanley should he be looking for cover for any midfielder who may drop out.
Meanwhile Graham Turner is looking to improve home form if Hereford are to challenge for the Conference title.
"Radcliffe Borough was a typical example. 29 strikes at goal and we still only scored twice. The goals are not going in for us at the moment. I know it doesn't take very much to change that situation and things start flying in.
"So we keep that belief and the endeavour and the aim is to make Edgar Street a fortress and take maximum points each game. And if we start doing that we will be right up there," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
Lastly as a good gate is expected this afternoon for the Barnet game, the advice has to be to reach Edgar Street in reasonable time. Although Hereford now lie sixth in the Conference, the club has not announced whether entrance prices will revert to those charged at the start of the season.
