League leaders at Edgar Street
Barnet, currently top of the table, are the visitors to Edgar Street tomorrow afternoon when Hereford United return to league action following two cup victories. United are currently on a run of five league games without victory, but with the confidence from the two cup games they will hope to kick start their season. With the leaders in town, what better way could there possibly be than taking three points from them.
Barnet are top of the current form tables. They've taken fourteen points from the last eighteen although they were defeated in the LDV Van Trophy on Wednesday night against Bristol Rovers. Hereford, however, have only taken five points from their last six games. Conference top scorer Giuliano Grazioli has just recovered from injury and will be fit to face United. He has netted eleven times already this season, and has already missed around a month via injury.
Ian Hendon, the skipper, is one to be watched. Hendon, who plays in the back four, is a highly influential part of the Barnet side. He also chips in with the goals and has netted five already this campaign. The Bulls fans who travelled to Barnet last season will remember Hendon as he aggravated them on several occasions. He was lucky to be on the pitch much more than five minutes after a disgraceful challenge on Rob Purdie, that left Purdie on the ground for minutes. Hendon scored the equalising goal late on and ran to the away end to celebrate (and say a few words) in front of United's supporters.
Graham Turner only has doubts over Adam Stansfield and Lee Mills. Stansfield was replaced during the game in mid week with Doncaster and is reported to be out with a thigh strain. Mills has a stomach bug. Andy Tretton, who missed out against Donny, is back from a hamstring injury. However, following the performance of the two centre halves on Tuesday, Turner will have a difficult decision deciding whom to start.
The side is likely to be changed a little bit as the LDV game went on into extra time and penalties, but nobody deserves to be dropped after their performance. The regulars who were on the bench such as Jamie Pitman and Ryan Green may also find it difficult to regain their place in the starting eleven.
Turner has already said that the players have been preparing for this game in a different way; a special diet has been introduced after the Doncaster game to help them recover in time for this clash. Hereford really need a victory from this game or they risk falling fifthteen points from the leaders and they may start falling away from the play-off positions. Three much needed points could see United jump to third place though, should over results go in their favour.
