Decent value in Conference
In Saturday's Bullseye Graham Turner, the Hereford United manager, wrote about his visit to the new City of Manchester stadium last week. He was impressed with the venue but what shocked him was the admission prices.
"I picked up a book at the match, which listed all details of Premiership and Coca-Cola league grounds including admission prices. There is a considerable number whose prices topped £40 for seats in the main stand.
"For a family to attend matches on a regular basis to support their team the cost is huge. Even in the 1st and 2nd divisions of the Coca-Cola league there are a number of clubs whose prices are £20 plus.
"Perhaps it makes Conference Football look decent value."
Few will disagree with that view. To be able to watch home games at Edgar Street for little more than £6, assuming the supporter has a season ticket, is good value.
Even if one paid the full price, there can be no complaints about the entertainment value of recent games at Hereford.
Meanwhile several supporters commented on the fact the there were very few families at the LDV game last Tuesday. It was suggested that next year it might be better for the club to try and arrange a Tuesday fixture during half-term. The attendance could have been several hundred higher.
Finally on Saturday morning the Hereford United under 18 team was defeated at home 2-1 by Walsall.
