Dolan criticises Moules and Turner

Eamonn Dolan, who has just finished as Exeter manager, has spoken to the Non-League Paper about Exeter's survival battle.

Last season Exeter were close to being docked ten points for going into adminstration. Eventually the Conference chief, John Moules, backed down. But Dolan still thinks Moules should have handled the situation differently.

In particular, Dolan said that the story put about that other Conference clubs would have to contribute to the Conference expenses should a court case have been needed to sort matter out was a myth.

"That was totally untrue but it was perpetrated for political reasons," said Dolan.

At the time it was suggested that Exeter's actions might cost other Conference clubs around £25,000 each and Graham Turner, manager of Hereford United, was not too pleased as the Bulls were just getting back on their feet after a long fight against possible closure.

However Dolan slams Turner in the interview.

"Hereford were very vociferous in their attacks on Exeter when they were in a CVA situation themselves. When Exeter went into a CVA I wasn't the manager and none of the directors at the time were responsible for the club's situation.

"But the irony is that when Hereford went in there were people there who had been with the club a long time and they were having a go at us."

Moules commented that Dolan should stick to football and keep out of politics.

The story by Graham Nickless contains several debatable quotes from Dolan. for example the suggestion that when Hereford went into a CVA there were people who had been with the club a long time is incorrect.

Turner is the only director from that era still with Hereford and he did not buy his shares and take charge until after the CVA agreement.

Perhaps the author should have checked his facts before allowing Dolan's thoughts to be printed.

Meanwhile the NLP has printed a short article suggesting that Chester City could be on the verge of going into a CVA.
