Left-sided duo collect another three points
A first half goal from Michael Rose and a late strike by Paul Parry ensured another three points for Hereford United, as they won 2-0 at Margate.

The Bulls controlled the game for long periods, and were well worth their victory which pushes them into third place.

Tonight's report was kindly supplied by Keith Hall.

Left-footed duo put Hereford third
Margate 0 - 2 Hereford United
Hereford United have moved up to third place in the Conference table, a point behind second-positioned Chester, thanks to goals from wing-back Michael Rose on the half hour mark, and a second from Paul Parry in the eighty ninth-minute.

The slick greasy surface appeared to suit United's passing style, and provided the freedom for Michael Rose to spring forward and cause plenty of problems for the Margate defence. Rose hit a post in the 12th minute, before opening the scoring with a half volley from fully twenty five yards, which flew into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Margate pushed forward in an effort to get something from the game in the second period, but United's three man defensive unit of Tony James, Andy Tretton and skipper Ian Wright held out. Tretton was brought into the side to replace Steve Guinan for tactical reasons, although Guinan was suffering from a knock on his calf.

Simon Beard was guilty of wasting a guilt-edged chance on fifty four minutes, when he blazed over Matt Baker's crossbar with the goal gaping. Margate captain Jay Saunders also went close to snatching an equaliser, but his header was well saved three minutes later.

Paul Parry wrapped the game up in the eighty-ninth minute, when he cut in from the left-hand touchline, and after a shimmy on the edge of the area, curled the ball around Margate goalkeeper Phillip Smith and into the opposite corner of the net. Rob Purdie almost made it three deep into stoppage time, but Smith's wonderful save denied him.
Hereford, therefore, will be delighted with another victory and their ninety or so fans at Hartsdown Park will want a repeat against Northwich Victoria on Saturday.
