Match Report - Kington v Hereford

It was men against boys at Kington last side when the home side played against Hereford's Under 18's boosted by the first team reserve keeper Ollie Lewis.

The pitch was quite heavy, luckily it hadn't been played on last Saturday or it might have been even worse.

Hereford played down the slope in the first half and started quite well, the Kington keeper called into action after just three minutes to gather a shot from McGowan.

Another shot, again by McGowan, several minutes later beat the keeper but was inches wide.

However it was Kington who scored first on 13 minutes.

On 26 minutes the home side had the ball in the net but it was disallowed for offside.

But Kington doubled their lead on 43 minutes.

At half time Kington 2 Hereford 0.

Fourteen minutes into the second half Hereford reduced the deficit. Tolley controlled the ball twenty yards out, raced towards the oncoming keeper, and with a confident finish found the back of the net.

Kington made it 3-1 on 69 minutes.

To make matters worse keeper Lewis suffered an injury which he tried to carry on with but eventually had to be subbed.

Two more goals for Kington in the last twelve or so minutes of the game.

However Hereford scored a late goal. Bevan crossed from the left and substitute Secker-Howe was well placed and planted the ball into the right side of the net.

Final score: Kington 5 Hereford 2.

Hereford:  Lewis, Sahabi, Antoniuk, Metcalfe, Lloyd, McGowan, Tolley, Purviv, Jones, Dinsdale, Bevan

Subs: Mills, Corbett, Warner, Mayo-Evans, Secker-Howe

Attendance: About 250 (tbc)

Whilst on the one hand the game was good experience for the Under 18's who kept going right to the final whistle, on the other hand had it been possible it might have been better if Hereford had a couple more senior players in the side.

However given first team squad numbers are quite low at present manager Paul Caddis probably wanted every fit player at training last night.  So no more were made available.
