The deal, signed with landlord Herefordshire Council, provides the Bulls with security of tenure at their historic home until 2070.
It also unlocks the potential for further ground improvements and commercial development, particularly as the club looks to grant funders for upgrades.
In an update to supporters, Ammonds described the signing as "undoubtedly one of the most important developments of recent years", and thanked the council for its support and patience through what has been a complex negotiation. He said the new lease would allow the club to plan properly for the years ahead.
In 2023, the council announced its intention to offer a long-term lease to Hereford FC, recognising the community importance of both the ground and the club. That proposal was approved in principle last December, before final confirmation came earlier this year.
At the time, councillor Harry Bramer, cabinet member for community services and assets, said: “Hereford FC and the Edgar Street ground are an integral part of life in our city, and an asset to the whole county. We’re delighted to have this arrangement in place and are looking forward to working in partnership with the football club on future developments at Edgar Street”
While the council scrapped proposals for student accommodation on the now-demolished Blackfriars End, the cleared area will remain a key focus of the club and council.
On Friday, Ammonds said: "Although a major focus for the club at the moment is the direction we look to take on the field in terms of our playing model, off the field we cannot stand still and reaching the agreement with the local authority on this lease is undoubtedly one of the most important developments of recent years as it secured our long-term home, meaning we can plan for the future with certainty.”
