Hereford manager Paul Caddis has admitted he's absolutely devastated after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Hemel Hempstead Town.
A 3-0 win for the visitors in the third qualifying round replay sealed Hereford's fate and denied them a home tie against Yeovil in the next round.
With £5,625 in prize money slipping through their fingers, having to instead settle for the £1,875 the losers get, Caddis opened up and revealed he was absolutely devastated, disappointed, upset, angry, sad and emotional after the game.
While he praised his side's character in the 2-2 draw in Hertfordshire, he said there was a lack of personality in the last 20 minutes as Hereford resorted to ineffective long balls and conceded two goals in injury time.
The emotional Scot said the "easiest thing to do is just kick it", which was frustrating with 20 minutes still to play.
Asked why his players resorted to it, he said: "It's nervousness. I know people want me to throw players under the bus but I will never do that. Collectively, it was nervousness.
"It's the easiest thing to do when you're under the cosh a little bit or things aren't quite going as well for you, just decide to start lashing it with no real quality either.
"We've tried to change this year plenty of times. We're trying to be more possession-based. Believe it or not, the lads have just absolutely brought it up themselves. We go through it loads in training and go through phases of play.
"I can understand if it's the 85th, 86th minute, 1-0 down to start going a bit bigger, but we just played into their hands."
On the free-kick inside the penalty area that led to Hemel Hempstead taking the lead eight minutes after the break, Caddis said it was just a lack of concentration from keeper Theo Richardson as he picked up a back pass from Aaron Skinner.
"It was a moment of lack of concentration, that's all it was," he said. "It's nothing. I'm not going to come out here absolutely batter Theo because he's been brilliant for us. He's a good character for us. He knows himself he's made a mistake there but there were 10 other players in front of him that made mistakes as well."
