I-Lani Edwards has said things are definitely getting better for Hereford after beating Buxton 2-1
Midfielder I-Lani Edwards has said he feels amazing after starting his first game in a Hereford shirt and helping the side to a 2-0 win over Buxton.
He said he was happy to get the opportunity to start, having previously come off the bench in the 2-0 defeats against Spennymoor and King's Lynn.
After saying he felt amazing, he told reporters that he loved it out on the pitch, adding: "Especially when we scored as well!"
On loan from Aston Villa, the 19-year-old, will be with Hereford until January. He joined Village at the age of 10, and signed a scholarship in July 2022. Then in the summer of 2024, he penned his first professional contract before appearing in the Vertu Trophy and Premier League 2 for Villa’s Under-21s.
After the Buxton win where Remaye Campbell scored both Hereford goals, Edwards was asked how he was finding National League North.
He said: "It's a big different but the principles are the same to be fair. But it took me a while to get used to. I remember my first game and I hardly got the ball and I was just chasing it. Now I know where to position myself a bit more now, so I'm definitely getting used to it."
With Hereford now off the mark, having picked up their first win and goals, he said: "It's early days. It's still a new group, so obviously still getting to know each other but it's definitely getting better."
