Omari Sterling-James made his debut for Hereford yesterday afternoon at Edgar Street.
Afterwards he spoke to the local media about the game against Curzon Ashton.
"It was a great win," said Sterling-James.
"The boys needed it especially after the last couple of weeks, I've seen the results.
"Winning today would mean we go above Curzon. There's no better incentive than that, we just went out there and did what the gaffer wanted."
Manager Paul Caddis said in his post match interview that Stering-James had provided 'the spark' for Hereford.
"I'm a team player so as long as we get the win it doesn't matter if I score, assist, or not. Just get the win.
"I'm pretty experienced, I'm getting on in age. I know not to sit back in games once you get ahead. At 2-0 it's sticky and it was for a period when they scored their goal but Ceesay, credit to him, killed the game and finished it off.
"It's about controlling games when you get ahead."
A couple of weeks ago Sterling-James played for Rushall against Hereford.
"It's been a whirlwind to be honest.
"It was a great Tuesday night, not for you but for me at Rushall playing in a position I like and just had a bit of freedom in that game.
"It clicked and we managed to get a win that day, unlucky for you.
"You could see how much you worked so coming to here I knew that.
"It's a great team, great work ethic, I knew a couple of the boys, it's a great techical team and it's just about getting over the line this last quarter of the season to hit where we need to hit, be where we need to be."
Caddis said he had tried to sign Sterling-James in the summer. How did the move come about.
"I'm 31 now but I've been in full time football all my life so just a bit of a mental block from the start of the season coming to be part time and doing evenings. Bit of a stumbling block but here we are now.
"I've been here a couple of times in the past and the fans have always been great for the home team, they're proper fans, they get on board with the team and you can here them from minute one to minute ninety.
"So it's a breath of fresh air to hear a roar when we score and they're the twelfth man when your backs are against the wall. Credit to them and I hope they can stay behind us for the rest of the season."
