Each Team Cancelled The Other Out Until We Scored Said Caddis

Hereford manager Paul Caddis gave his thoughts on yesterday's game against Alfreton to the local media.

"I thought the first half was a non-event to be honest," he said.

"There's games sometimes and you look at the clock and there's only 15 minutes gone, it just kind of petered out.

"That's not a criticism of us, not a criticism of them, the two teams cancelled each other out. I didn't think there was much in it at all.

"We knew with Alfreton and the way Billy Heath sets up and his character and personality, we knew it would be a really tough game, it always is against Alfreton. I don't think Hereford have beaten them in 10 games. So it shows you how difficult a task it is.

"But I thought second half we were proper resolute, I thought we defended the box really well, especially when they brought Lund on who just puts long throws into the box.

"They've obviously freshened up with a couple of new faces so it was trying to adjust to that early on in the game.

"But I have to say I'm so proud of the players, what's that six or seven wins, whatever it is.

"It's absolutely brilliant but it's winning three points, we move on."

Ceesay opened the scoring on 59 minutes.

"He probably wasn't at his absolute best today.

"I think the second half with the supporters behind the goal just gave us a massive lift. They give you that little jag that you need because I just felt we were a little bit, not lethargic, each team cancelled each other out, that happens sometimes in football, but the supporters definitely got us going. Once we  got a goal they didn't stop.

"Then we go and get the second."
