Cosmos Matwasa Scored One Of Hereford's Goals |
Hereford's third friendly of pre-season took place this evening. The Bulls travelled to Swindon Supermarine and returned with a 2-1 victory.
As expected Paul Caddis varied the starting eleven from Saturday.
Trialist (GK), Trialist, Howkins, Preston, Hudson, D'Ath, Teixeira, Matwasa, Babos, Rooney, Williams
Andy Williams could have put Hereford ahead on 7 minutes, his shot hit the woodwork.
Twelve minutes later the experienced striker was on target. Babos was the provider.
It was 2-0 on 27 minutes. Williams found Cosmos Matwasa who easily beat the keeper.
BN's reporter at the match summed up the first half.
'Hereford strolled through the first half. They look confident and fluid up front, inter-changing well, mostly with Williams in the centre and Adam Rooney often out on the left.
Alec Babos pulled the strings behind them and Matwasa had a good half.
The second goal was a cracker. Williams on the left put a high-arcing cross towards the far post. Matwasa, jumping in the air, gave the keeper no chance. Almost the goal of the season.
Hudson got forward particually well on the left. Teixeira had little dirty work to do in the middle of the pitch. Babos had a lot of fun.
Nothing much to say about the defence as Supermarine have been disappointing.
Half time: Swindon Supermarine 0 Hereford 2
Two changes at the break. Defenders Howkins and Preston are replaced by two trialists.
Supermarine stepped up a gear in the early stages of the half and the Hereford trialist keeper was nearly beaten when a shot came on the box and the rebound fired towards him.
Williams and Matwasa were subbed of on 63 minutes, two trialists came on. Later Cowley, Derricott and Campbell replaced Teixeira, Babos and D'Ath.
On 80 minutes Supermarine got one back when Fernades slipped the ball under the keeper.

BN's reporter summed up the second half.
'I don't think we learnt much from the second half, there were a lot of changes.
At times the defence was almost a collection of different trialists, it wasn't coherent.
Cowley when he came on initially went to left back which might show flexibility but isn't going to happen.
Supermarine were a lot more fired up. Manager Stuart Fleetwood clearly demanded more, possibly playing some of their better players. Certainly a lot more lively.
They hit the post fairly early on and they clearly deserved their goal when it eventually came. The keeper was beaten at the near post but it looked like there was a slight deflection which was unfortunate.
Even after that they again hit the post with another deflected shot.
It was nearly a game of two halves.
I don't think we learnt very much. It's hard to work out how you make a team with trialists.
It was more of a training exercise after Williams went off.
But it is only a friendly and that's what it is there for to learn about people.
The attendance looked to be about 250 with maybe 70 or so Hereford supporters.'
