Turner To 'Start' Blackfriars End Demolition?

There's been a suggestion that Graham Turner could be asked to 'start' the demolition of the Blackfriars End of Edgar Street, pictured in 2009, which could take place as early as this summer.

The former Hereford United manager had talks with the Herefordshire Council about the end on several occasions but nothing was ever done.

However it now looks like the demolition is in the Council's plans.

Notices about the Blackfriars End demolition were posted last Monday.

"That brings a bit of reality," said chairman Chris Ammonds.

"It will be a big day to see work started even if it is just demolition work in the first instance.

"To see it become a site will be a big moment and hopefully good signs for the future."

Jamie Griffiths felt that maybe Graham Turner should be invited back for the start of the demolition.

"He could have the first wack of the sledge hammer," said the club's general manager.

Ammonds said he had mentioned this to Turner when he attended a recent game.

"I did say to him have you still got that sledge hammer because we might have to bring it out of retirement at some point."
