In his post-Darlington interview, Hereford manager Paul Caddis wasn't too pleased with his side's first half performance but the character of his players came through as the game went on.
"We obviously won the game late on," said Caddis.
"But for me to be brutally honest I thought the first half was rubbish. Just a rubbish game of football.
"I thought there wasn't much in it in terms of chances both sides.
"But if that is our minimum then I'm excited to see what levels we can get to.
"Second half I thought we were a bit better .
"But I was delighted with the character, when Rooney misses his penalty and in ten seconds the ball is in the back of the net.
"Again the character in the dressing room I've got is something I'm really proud of."
Connor Stanley came on as a sub and scored Hereford's goal, moments after Adam Rooney failed to convert a penalty.
"Brilliant finish.
"Again I'm going to mention that word character. He didn't start did he but he came on the pitch and scored the winner.
"He could have easily sat and been disappointed and huffed and puffed. But he didn't.
"He came on and showed his quality."
