Former Hereford manager Peter Beadle watched yesterday's game at Edgar Street and afterwards he spoke to BN.
Beadle was with Keith Hall commentating on the game for BBC H&W.
After talking about the game the news about a new chairman was discussed and then the vacant manager's position.
"Keith asked me a couple of weeks ago if I would like to come over and do a game," said Beadle.
"I felt yes it would be nice to come over and watch a live game.
"It was nice to be back, lots of friendly welcomes, so just good to be back."
What about the game?
"Lots of chances but lacked a bit of quality at times.
"Either team could have won it in the end.
"I felt both teams didn't have enough bodies in the box.
"Hereford hadn't scored in four games so it was nice to get that off their shoulders but I just think that maybe they went a little bit negative with the changes to try and shore it up when sometimes the best form of defence is attack and to get at them and try and score a second goal rather than protecting what they had."
Beadle was then asked about the new Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds.
"I think he's a fantastic choice to be chairman.
"He's a people person, he's very open and honest, and I think he will be a really good choice to move things onwards.
"I'm disappointed for the supporters that the club hasn't continued to thrive the way it did when we were here.
"There's no bitterness from me, I'm just disappointed because the hard work we did to get to where we were hasn't been followed up.
"I love this place and I consider it my second home.
"I've spent many years here coaching the youth team, Hereford United and Hereford FC.
"Hopefully it will start to move forward now because it seems it's gone stale over the last two or three seasons.
"There doesn't seem to be any further progression from when we left.
"It's a great job when you are a chairman if you've got hindsight but if you don't have that hindsight every appointment is a gamble.
"It's just a shame that we left when we did and we didn't get an opportunity, I still believe we would have achieved our goal of certainly being in the National League within two seasons of being in the National North but it wasn't to be."
BN - We all know there's a vacancy here, would you like to come back?
"Do I think I could do the job, yes of course I do because I know what the supporters need and want.
"They want to see attractive, open football but most important they want to see winning football.
"Yes can I do that, of course I can but I just think there's probably a bit too much time passed now.
"But yes could I do it, of course I could. I've got total faith in myself to turn it around but I just think maybe they will be looking for someone a little bit younger and a bit more new age.
"At the end of the day if they wanted to ring me of course I would talk to them but no one knows what the club wants, what the supporters want and need more than me.
"I just think that maybe it's a bit too much of a gap in between.
"But look, never say never."
