Interesting information about the attendances at games played in the National League last Friday.
This from the excellent 'Alty Files'.
On Good Friday the National League witnessed five gates of more than six and a half thousand.
- 9786 Notts County
- 8638 Chesterfield
- 7663 FC Halifax Town
- 7391 Oldham Athletic
- 6603 Southend United
In addition, eight attendances in the National North exceeded a thousand with Chester FC attracting 3,487 for the visit of Chorley which sadly ended goalless. In National South, ten gates exceeded a thousand with both the champions Ebbsfleet United and lowly Dulwich Hamlet attracting more than three thousand spectators.
However, Alty's visitors today, Gateshead, FA Trophy finalists and third
top of the NL form guide, must wonder why they could only attract 1,804
for the visit of Scunthorpe United when South Shields, some ten miles
further down the River Tyne, attracted 2,764 for a match two levels
below against Nantwich Town.
