Gowling Has Done Fantastically Well For Us Said Hale

Hereford FC Chairman Jon Hale spoke to BBC H&W's sports editor Trevor Owens earlier today following the news yesterday that Josh Gowling had left the club by mutual consent.

The first question was why the board thought it was the right time to change the manager.

"I think we had to take into consideration the recent form, especially the results, and having given Josh as much support as we possibly could that now was probably the time," said Hale.

"It's been a very difficult season regarding injuries, I think we had similar problems last season. Certainly at times Josh has been down to bare bones in terms of who he could select for the side. Obviously we've tried to bolster the numbers with loan signings as the season has gone on.

"I think we just felt perhaps attendances were starting to drop a little bit as well, the form and the results not so good, we felt now was a good time to make the chances as hard as that change was.

"He's done fantastically well for us and I'll be the very first to say that he's a very professional humble man who got on with everybody.

"We're all very sad that the moment had come but he's got to be very proud of what he did at the club in terms of a Wembley final, the FA Cup run this year, our highest place last season.

"So yes he's done a lot and he's done himself a lot of good as he goes forward in his career.

"I said to him when we met he will get success there's no doubt because he's a hard worker, he's honest and he works with integrity.

"I'm just sad that the success which I'm sure he will have in his career won't be with us. He's had a good foundation and we've supported him well, he should be very proud of himself."
