Short Report From Sponsors Meeting With James Smith

New Hereford director James Smith met with a group of sponsors earlier this evening at Edgar Street to discuss commercial matters

Smith was appointed commercial director last week and the aim of the meeting was to discuss ideas that might benefit the club.

At the outset Smith explained that his goal was to try and increase attendances at games and also try to increase income from other avenues including bars, hospitality and advertising at the club. He wanted to improve the experience of watching games at Edgar Street.

He knows the club well given he ran the bars for several years after the club was re-launched.

A number of comments were made including the aim of encouraging more children to games, the problems of the bars only being open on match days and how to avoid waste, the possibilty of advertising on Radio Hereford FC, the position of the catering kiosks inside the ground especially the one between the main stand and the pitch, more half-time entertainment and bringing back the end of the season player awards evening.

Smith said he hoped manager Josh Gowling would be able to get to more schools and other places to promote football at Edgar Street. It was felt that unless you were a regular supporter you might not know when matches are taking place.

Whilst it's early days for Smith, his enthusiasm for the task ahead was obvious to all at the meeting.

An 'inspired' appointment as someone close to the club noted.
