HUST Members Vote For Hereford United

HUST have released details of their recent vote about the possibility of changing the Hereford FC name to Hereford United. As this is quite complicated we have reproduced their statement in full.

Following the completion of the first stage of the voting in the Hereford FC name change process it has been confirmed that the HUST board has been instructed to action the vote in the following way:

If 75% of the HUST members vote in favour of the name change then: -

  • HUST will call an HFC EGM
  • Utilise all HUST “A” shares (currently 261,000 shares) to vote in favour

Less than 75% vote in favour of the name change then: -

  • HUST will do nothing

The results of the first stage of voting was as follows:

1st Preferences:

  • Option 1  75
  • Option 2  36
  • Option 3  43

Therefore all 1st preference Option 2 votes were then reallocated to the 2nd Preference selected by those voters and added to the 1st Preference votes.

  • Option 1  91
  • Option 3  59

This, therefore, confirms Option 1 as the preferred option by HUST members.

As resolved at the HUST AGM, the next stage of the process is for a vote by HUST members on whether to continue with the club name as Hereford FC or to revert to Hereford United. Only adults who are fully paid-up members of HUST on 31st January 2022 are eligible to vote.

Prior to the vote, online hustings will take place, which will allow HUST Members to submit their views on the possible name change. Hustings will open on 27th January 2022 and further details of how to submit views will be shared in due course.

These views will then be shared with all members ahead of the vote, which will open on 10th February 2022.
