We Didn't Give Them A Platform To Play Off Said Gowling

Jaanai Gordon Scored Hereford's Second Goal

Josh Gowling spoke to the local media after Hereford's convincing 3-0 win over Kettering this evening.

"I think I was pleased especially at the start because they put a lot of balls in the box and a lot of set plays which is their game," said Gowling.

"I thought that we dealt with it really well.

"We tweaked a few things in the team just to get on the ball a little bit more.

"I think especially first halves here of late we've not really played much so it was nice that the lads got on the ball and played a bit more.

"We spoke of that happy medium of not being too expansive and not being too rigid so I think we got that balance just right and I though we controlled the game from start to finish.

"We do analysisand we looked at when they are most dangerous and they are most dangerous fifteen minutes after half time. So we really worked in training on really going with intensity in that fifteen minutes to knock the stuffing out of them.

"And we did that early getting that goal and I think after that there was only going to be one winner.

"Kettering are a very direct team, they look to pick up second balls and I thought Lloyd and Kouyhar in midfield were excellent. I thought they picked up a lot of second balls.

"I thought Luke and the Chief at the back won their individual battles and when balls dropped down Kouyhar and Lloyd picked them up.

"So we didn't give them a platform to play off so that was pleasing.

"What we wanted to do was to put a lot of pressure on them so their quality going forward from back to front was not there because we put so much pressure on them. They were just hooking things on which enabled us to pick up the balls and then go and play."

Ryan Mclean and others had shots from range which hasn't always happened this season.

"I thought that was probably Ryan's best game. I know he hasn't scored but we spoke to Ryan about not being one dimensional standing out wide and running down the wide and crossing it. We wanted to get him in the pockets, it gives their wing back food for thought, and Ryan did that well. I thought second half when he cut back - did the guy hand ball it - his decision making was excellent today.

"I think all round Owen-Evans linked up with Gordon well which is why he got his goals and it was nice for Gordon to get a goal."

Another clean sheet for Hereford this evening.

"I was not very happy at the Kiddy game at half time because of the way we defended in the midfield area, we had words on that.

"Clean sheets are not just the back four, it's the whole team.

"Andoh played left back this evening and was excellent. Chief, Luke and Skip were different class all evening."
