Bowman Sends Grimsby Down To The National League

Former Hereford United striker Ryan Bowman scored the winning goal for Exeter City in the 89th minute of their League Two game against Grimsby this evening. The result means that Mariners will be playing in the National League next season.

Grimsby started the game with two former Hereford FC players in the eleven, Giles Coke and Lenell John-Lewis who was captain.

Exeter went ahead when Luke Waterfall put through his own net. But two goals, the first a penalty hammered home by John-Lewis and the second a strike by Jay Matele, put the visitors ahead.

Two minutes later Matele was sent off and Exeter levelled in the 82nd minute when sub Alex Fisher scored.

On 89 minutes Bowman put Exeter ahead and so the final score was 3-2. Grimsby will therefore be playing in the National League next season.
