Back in 2009 Josh Gowling moved to Gillingham from Carlisle. Mark Stimson was the Gills manager at the time.

A look back:

Former Bulls loanee Josh Gowling has joined Gillingham on an initial five week loan.
Gowling now appears to be surplus to requirements at Carlisle with boss Greg Abbott telling their official site: "I was happy that he had returned for pre-season to fight for his place, but an opportunity has come up for him to get some regular football and to put himself in the shop window. We are well covered in that area, so this will give him a chance to see what he can do with Gillingham."
He played 13 times for the Bulls during an injury hit loan spell at Edgar Street after opting for Carlisle over the Bulls last summer. He was strongly rumoured to be making a permanent switch to Edgar Street during the summer, but the move never materialised as John Trewick completed his defensive signings in bringing Darren Dennehy to the club on loan.
Gowling will go to Gillingham until August 22nd, when a longer loan or a permanent deal may be concluded.

Gillingham have offered former Bulls loanee Josh Gowling a permanent deal as he nears the end of his current loan from Carlisle.
The 25 year old has played four times for Gillingham at the start of the season, but tomorrow's match with Hartlepool will be his last of the loan spell. Manager Mark Stimson told the BBC: "We're talking and we're trying to get something done, so hopefully we can take him permanently. I think there's a really good chance of getting him, the kid's really interested in coming. He's enjoyed his time here. Now we're trying our hardest to make things happen."
Gowling played 13 times for the Bulls last season, and was touted as a summer signing before joining Gillingham on loan.

Josh Gowling has joined Gillingham on a two year deal. The defender, who had a successsful loan spell with Hereford United last season, has just completed a one month loan from Carlisle.
"You bring players to the club to play to their strengths and play in their positions but sometimes, like Josh, they have to move across and do the best they can," said Gillingham manager Mark Stimson.
"That's happened to Josh but he has come in and done his best in that role and it's hard to criticise him."
