No Money To Bring Another Striker Said Gowling

There's no money to bring in another striker at present said Hereford FC manager Josh Gowling in an interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester.

And it's also difficult to bring one in on loan because of Covid-19 regulations.

"We can't go into the striker's shop and pick one out," said Gowling.

"It's difficult, we have a budget.

"We haven't got an endless pot of money where we can go and get the best striker in the league.

"We can't do that, we don't have the budget to do that.

"The league said they were going to cover our gates from last year to make sure that we had the funds.

"But I think we're the third lowest payment from that lottery money.

"It's fantastic that we've got the money.

"But some of the clubs get 500 fans and they are getting £30,000 a month. We had 2,500 as our average gate and we got £6,000 more.

"That's hit the club hard.

"So to enable me to go out and get another striker in, an established striker, the money is just not there.

"We have to look at young lads and be a bit more defensive minded and be a bit more solid to make sure we get results.

"That's the situation we are in at the moment.

"Scunthorpe have done us a massve favour in letting us have Kelsey (Mooney) very cheap.

"It's difficult to get a striker of the quality we expect for next to nothing."
