We Kept Hereford Quiet Said Altrincham Manager

Elliott Durrell Scores For Altrincham - Picture From The Alty Files
Phil Parkinson, the Altrincham manager, felt his tactics worked at Hereford. The visitors won the game 2-0.

"A really professional performance by the boys to come away to Edgar Street and take all three points," said Parkinson in his post-match interview.

"We know how much of a tough place this can be with the home support being the way it is.

"We knew if we could keep them quiet in the first half we would have a real good chance."

Altrincham won the toss and put Hereford to play down the slope towards the Meadow End.

"If we could stay in the game and create those moments, we have lads who can finish it off.

"Who else would you want on the end of a ball than Elliott Durrell. It was an absolutely outstanding finish. The ball was fizzed in with height and spin and he's hit the back post.

"We were one of four games on today but conditions today were difficult.

"It's always hard to come here. Their fans, if you allow Hereford to get on top, almost suck the ball into the goal. I remember last year it was really uncomfortable at times but we kept them very quiet.

"We scored when we needed to and we did what we needed to do, take three points."

Hereford had one decent chance which fell to Kelsey Mooney in the second half.

"He really should have scored. I not sure how that happened because we were really comfortable all afternoon.

"It's been a three hour coach journey, a long way for us to come, and to get off the coach, to play the way we did, to take the three points the way we have here is no mean feat. Everyone will go home very happy."
