Russell Slade has reacted to today's draw with Bradford PA by pointing out he was five senior players short.
Dawson, Thomas, Riley, Nicholson and Vincenti were either ill or carrying knocks.
And he felt Hereford were unlucky with the penalty miss.
"When York City came here everybody expected us to lose the game, we didn't we very nearly won it and that's football. That can happen on any given day.
"We've had to make a lot of changes today to be as competitive as we possibly can but we've not put in a great performance, I get that, but there were a lot of changes and we just have to move on."
Reminded that Hereford are close to the foot of the table, with Kettering whom the Bulls play next Saturday just a point below them, did Slade think he can lift the team?
"We've got players to come back, we shouldn't forget that.
"If we sign the likes of Dawson back into the group and Thomas and Nicholson back etc then we are much stronger.
"I think we'll all agree that they are five players that could possible have started today. "
There were some boos from supporters at full time.
"Yes of course there were, we were playing the bottom of the league and we're not winning the game and we've missed opportunities to get in front.
"We've not gone into today's game not looking to get three points, we gone in to try and win the match and we'll do exactly the same next week.
"I'd like to add (to the squad), We need to establish in terms of money what we've got available.
"I think the time is to build now."
