Defences have certainly not been on top during the first
half of Hereford’s encounter with rock-bottom Bradford (Park Avenue), with the
score locked at 1-1 at half time.
Hereford took the lead after only four minutes. The found Jason
Pope on the edge of the area and the Bulls midfielder’s low effort was enough
to beat Joe Green in the Bradford goal.
It was end-to-end stuff in the opening exchanges with both
defences all at sea. Oli Johnson shot wide for Bradford on the 10th
minute, while Green had to make a fine save to deny Alex Bray at the other end
four minutes later.
However, Bradford did equalise in the 18th
minute. Adam Nowakowski nodded the ball into the path of Nicky Clee, who had
plenty of time to smash the ball home.
Clee then almost put the away side ahead with an audacious
effort on the half-hour mark. The winger was inside his own half when he
spotted Hereford keeper Will Henry off his line. But his effort went just over.
Overall, you have to say that Bradford have had the better
of the half and could easily be ahead. Their defence has been shaky at times,
so you would hope Hereford will be able to breach it during the second half.
But it’s at the back where the problems lie for the Bulls so far this
afternoon.
