A new low as Bulls draw at home to the league's whipping boys

Hereford failed to beat rock-bottom Bradford (Park Avenue) this afternoon, a side who had lost 10 away games on the bounce prior to today’s match having shipped 37 goals.

And in truth, if it wasn’t for goalkeeper Will Henry, Bradford could easily have won.

Hereford took the lead after only four minutes. They found Jason Pope on the edge of the area and the Bulls midfielder’s low effort was enough to beat Joe Green in the Bradford goal.

It was end-to-end stuff in the opening exchanges with both defences all at sea. Oli Johnson shot wide for Bradford on the 10th minute, while Green had to make a fine save to deny Alex Bray at the other end four minutes later.

However, Bradford did equalise in the 18th minute. Adam Nowakowski nodded the ball into the path of Nicky Clee, who had plenty of time to smash the ball home.

Clee then almost put the away side ahead with an audacious effort on the half-hour mark. The winger was inside his own half when he spotted Hereford keeper Will Henry off his line. But his effort went just over.

Hereford had a chance to go back in front in the 49th minute after Victor Sodeinde went through on goal. But the ball went over after Sodeinde hooked it over Green.

Just two minutes later and the Bulls were awarded a penalty after Sodeinde was upended.

But despite sending Green the wrong way. Sodeinde’s spot-kick hit the post and the ball went out of play after rolling across goal.

After that, it was Bradford who had the better of the chances and Will Henry had to keep Hereford in the match. First, he denied Oli Johnson in the 73rd minute before making another great save three minutes later to thwart Mitch Lund.

And with a minute to go, Henry saved a shot from substitute Lewis Knight after the substitute ran half the length of the pitch.

Boos rang out at full time, with the Bulls fans clearly frustrated with how things have panned out.

Next up is an away game at fourth-bottom Kettering, who won at Spennymoor today. Great!
