At last Thursday's Hereford FC AGM questions were raised about financial compliance particularily in relation to Herefordshire Council who own Edgar Street.
When the accounts for 2018/19 were presented for adoption a number of compliance questions were raised regarding HFC's obligations under the leases from Herefordshire Council, in particular the provision of financial information to the Council in order to meet the club's tenant financial covenants.
The Council require copies of the audited financial statement within a specific timeframe as set out in the leases.
The Chairman and the Financial Director appeared unaware of these requirements but undertook to ensure that such information that is required would be actioned immediately following the meeting.
The shareholder who asked the questions then agreed to provide copies of the revelent clauses in the lease following the meeting in order to assist the club's officers understand their obligations.
It was also suggested that such compliance with the club's obligations could ensure that HFC interest in a number of property related issues with regard to Edgar Street, in particular the possible redevelopment of the Blackfriars End could not be prejudiced by a simple breach of a clause in the existing leases from Herefordshire Council.
