Hereford FC's latest signing Stephen Dawson thought he had scored on his debut for his new club last night at Southport but the goal was ruled out because of what was believed to be a handball in the Hereford end maybe half a minute or so before.
Whilst shouts for handball were heard the referee failed to notice that anything had happened until after the goal had been scored.
Had the goal stood it would have been a great start for Dawson who was Hereford's man of the match.
In the discussions that took place Hereford manager Russell Slade received a yellow card.
"I still don't know what happened with the goal," said Dawson after the game.
"I don't understand what's gone on."
Manager Slade thought there were 'some bizarre things going on in that first period'.
"Dawson has broken through, there was a decision 15 seconds earlier that the referee decides to bring it back for when he's made a perfectly good finish to equalise."
