Hereford FC Under 18's played their first league game of the season last night under the lights at Wellington and deservedly defeated Stratford Town 3-1.
Playing down the slight slope, the young Bulls were first to score. Jack Rosser controlled the ball and his shot from outside the box flew into the top right hand corner of the Stratford goal.
Stratford equalised late in the half after the referee gave a disputed hand ball, Hereford head coach Dan Chance felt the ball had hit his defender in the center of his chest. However the free kick wasn't defended properely.
After just six minutes of the second half Hereford took the lead. The ball came in from the left and Archie Muirhead was in the right place to knock the ball into the net.
Seven minutes later it was 3-1. This time it was Shaun Yallard who scored.
Both sets of players tired as the game entered the final twenty minutes or so but there was little doubt that overall Hereford were the better team and deserved their three points.
Afterwards head coach Dan Chance told BN that he felt Hereford had been dominant for most of the game.
"We felt it was most important having had a good pre-season we carried that on tonight into the League.
"Apart from their goal, I don't think they caused us too many problems.
"I think we were by far the better side, created a lot of opportunities and really performed well tonight."
