Richards Pleased To Get Three Points

In his post match interview at Evesham last night, Hereford head coach Mark Richards seemed pleased with the outcome of the game 'because we got the three points'.

"It's a difficult place to come to," said Richards.

"It's quite open, you felt the wind even today and it wasn't really a windy day today.

"To get the three points is what it was about. It wasn't a great performance, if I'm being honest.

"Obviously with the sending offs that changed it slightly but we need to be better in terms of the levels we are aspiring to. But I would have taken any win today.

"I thought Gloucester battled extremely hard and I think they are going to cause problems in the league. I think they are very effective in what they do. I just glad we got the three points.

"It was nowhere near the levels we need to be at but it was nice they found a way to win even if it was a long time coming with the second goal."

Striker Reece Styche was on the substitutes bench.

"I decided to freshen it up a little bit, changing it a little bit for Toe and Nico. However I don't think we got into any sort of rhythm tonight."

What about the penalty?

"I know that he's got in front of him and then he's gone to ground so I can see why he's given it in the position the referee was in.

"It was decided before the game that Owen-Evans would take it."

Richards spoke about Keiran Thomas.

"Goalscoring midfielder. He's buzzing, he took a whack, a tackle in the first half. I don't know how he times it so well.

"I've seen him pop a football, that's how hard he tackles."

It's King's Lynn next.

"A nice trip to King's Lynn, then Blyth the following Saturday.

"Lynn had a positive result tonight so it will be a tough one. We'll have to look at it from an injury prospective. Riley came off at half-time."

Richards knows most of the Gloucester staff and players.

"I've got a lot of time for Cookie (Gloucester manager).

"I used to work for him when I was 17. I've got massive respect for him."

Over 1000 Hereford fans were at the game.

"It was good to see it so packed. I appreciate the support.

"Hopefully we can take a few to King's Lynn to spur the players on."
